How to Unlock All Characters in Halls of Torment
Checked 2026-10-29. Covers 1.0, The Boglands (2025-10-28) and The Lost Archives (2026-10-22).
Bard unlocks through The Penny Dropped in The Vault: defeat Lord of Greed and watch the ending. Sage is tied to Dissonance Agony. The table separates the wiki’s 16-hero PC roster from older and mobile rosters, and labels DLC requirements.
How many characters
Do not trust a single total. On 29 October 2026 the Fandom hero table listed 16: the original set, Bard from a free update, Crone and Alchemist from The Boglands, and Inquisitor and Blood Apostle from The Lost Archives. Verdict’s 18 September 2026 tier list still used 14, before the Archives. The App Store Premium description says 13 classes. Those are three sources, three numbers.

Bard and Sage
Bard is not a paid DLC hero. The Penny Dropped is a Vault quest. There is no “Hall of Masters” in the wiki hall list.
Sage’s unlock is Dissonance Agony, not a disappearance bug. I looked through the wiki and the r/hallsoftorment thread titled “Sage Question” and found build talk, not a “Sage disappeared” bug with a patch note. I am not publishing that bug.
DLC heroes stay on the DLC you bought. Crone and Alchemist need The Boglands. Inquisitor and Blood Apostle need The Lost Archives.
Questions and answers
Do I need to buy the DLC to unlock its characters?
Yes. Their unlock content requires the corresponding DLC; this does not mean unlocked DLC heroes are restricted to DLC halls.
Did Sage disappear in a 1.0 bug?
No public bug report I could pair with a patch note says that. The unlock is the Agony quest on Chambers of Dissonance.
